چکیده

The level-set method of Sussman et al. [J. Comput. Phys. 148 (1999) 81] is extended such that flows with multiple moving contact lines can be simulated, accounting for inertia, a relation between contact-line speed and contact angle, slip and contact-line hysteresis. The convergence properties of the method are investigated, with particular attention on the resolution of the contact-line stress singularity. Results are compared with a lubrication theory for spreading droplets. 2005 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved.

A Mixed Formulation of a Sharp Interface Model of Stokes Flow with Moving Contact Lines

Two-phase fluid flows on substrates (i.e. wetting phenomena) are important in many industrial processes, such as micro-fluidics and coating flows. These flows include additional physical effects that occur near moving (three-phase) contact lines. We present a new 2-D variational (saddlepoint) formulation of a Stokesian fluid with surface tension that interacts with a rigid substrate. The model ...

Multi-Objective Economic-Statistical Design of VSSI-MEWMA-DWL Control Chart with Multiple Assignable Causes

This paper proposes a multi-objective model for the economic-statistical design of the variable sample size and sampling interval multivariate exponentially weighted moving average control chart by using double warning lines. The Markov chain approach is used to obtain the statistical properties. We extend the Lorenzen and Vance cost function considering multiple assignable causes and multivari...

3D simulations of flows with moving contact lines using a diffuse interface method: a shear-driven droplet moving on a wall

A diffuse interface method is used to simulate two-phase flows with moving contact lines in 3D. The specific numerical issue is the validation of the method regarding the dynamics of moving contact lines in 3D. In particular, we aim to use the method to extend previous (2D and/or creeping-flow) work on sheardriven motion of a droplet on a wall to the full 3D problem, accounting for inertial eff...

Mapping of Agricultural Information Flows for Yam Minisett Technology in Delta State, Nigeria

ABSTRACTThis study examined information flow on minisett technology among yam farmers in Delta State, Nigeria. A sample size of 180 respondents was involved in the study. Data were obtained from respondents of the study through the use of a validated interview schedule. Percentage, frequency count and mean scores were used to summarize data, while line diagrams were used to develop maps of info...

A Strain Range Dependent Cyclic Plasticity Model

Hysteresis loop curves are highly important for numerical simulations of materials deformation under cyclic loadings. The models mainly take account of only the tensile half of the stabilized cycle in hysteresis loop for identification of the constants which don’t vary with accumulation of plastic strain and strain range of the hysteresis loop. This approach may be quite erroneous particularly ...
